SBK ab 2008 wieder in den USA

Die SBK-WM fährt 2008 wieder in den USA, und zwar im Miller Motorsports Park. Bisher nur offenes Geheimnis, jetzt offiziell. Mich freut es.

FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - Back to USA in 2008

June 1 2008 will be the date of the USA 2008 FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP race which will take place at the Miller Motorsports Park circuit near Salt Lake City, Utah, where the Winter Olympic Games has been successfully organized in 2002.

FGSPORT have signed a multiyear agreement with the company owned by Larry Miller that built the circuit.

“After having built a very successful USA race in Laguna Seca which for many years has been at the top of motorcycle racing in North America with over 100,000 spectators” - said Maurizio Flammini, President of the FGSPORT GROUP -, “our people are now working on doubling this success with the Utah race.

“We consider Miller Motorsports Park a very interesting, fast and safe circuit with top facilities compared to the USA standard; Mr. Claude Danis already visited the venue and, in cooperation with Alan Wilson, agreed about the needs of the World Championship race in terms of safety. Our riders, teams and sponsors, a community of over 2,000 people, will very much enjoy it together with the 200 million people who will see the race in television next year.

“During the process of building up the relationship with the local authorities and the operators, I was particularly impressed from the commitment and enthusiasm of Governor Jon Huntsman who I want to thank for his hospitality, and from the professionalism of Larry H. Miller and his Staff.

“I am sure that the FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP event that will take place in Utah from next year will be one of the best promoted and organized of the Series.”

Paolo Flammini CEO of the FGSPORT GROUP said: “The inclusion of a USA event in the 2008 FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP calendar constitutes a very important step in the growth process that our Series is currently experiencing .

“North America represents one of the widest motorcycle markets in the world and we strongly believe that the 2008 FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP USA round will add strong value to the participation of the motorcycle manufacturers to the Series.

“We look forward to bring back the SBK circus to USA and specifically to Miller Motorsports Park which is clearly one of the most attractive venues in the territory.”

The FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP will share the weekend at Miller Motorsports Park with the AMA Superbike Championship and its support series. The weekend will be an action-packed celebration of two-wheeled competition for fans, with double-header races for both the FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and the AMA Superbike Championship.

“We are thrilled to bring the FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP to Miller Motorsports Park,” said track owner Larry H. Miller. “This will be the biggest international sporting event in this state since the Olympic Winter Games in 2002. We look forward to welcoming the international motorcycle racing community to Utah, as well as thousands of new fans from across the United States and the world, who will be visiting Utah and our facility for the first time.”

“This announcement marks a significant achievement for Miller Motorsports Park,” said MMP General Manager and CEO Alan Wilson. “The FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP is a very prestigious event, and I would like to thank Maurizio Flammini of FGSPORT for his help in crafting this agreement.”

It’s interesting to note that the circuit includes a car museum with more than 20 Shelby Cobras and Ford GT40s, where you can also find the Ford GT40 with Chassis No.1!

“We are very excited to once again share the stage with the FIM SUPERBIKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP and look forward to bringing the American fans a Superbike weekend they will cherish forever,” said AMA Road Race Director Keith Kizer.

Was für eine trostlose Wüste! Gibt es in den USA keine Rennstrecke wo auch mal ein bißchen Gras wächst?

Muss aber eine fette Anlage sein...
